3.1 Configuring Basic Settings

Self Service Password Reset allows you to configure basic settings to control functionality and behavior of the applications through the following settings.

3.1.1 Configuring Application Settings

The Application Settings help you define the following settings for Self Service Password Reset:

  • Site URL: The URL used in email macros and other user-facing communications to provide a link for users to easily access the website. For example, if a user tries to reset their password using the Forgotten Password option, the email verification token and a reset password link will be sent to their email.

  • Forward URL: SSPR will direct users to this URL once they complete any activity that doesn't require logout. By default, SSPR directs users to the SSPR menu page after completing any activity. You can override the default URL by adding a new value.

  • Logout URL: When a user clicks the Logout button, SSPR directs users to the configured Logout URL page. By default, SSPR directs them to the SSPR logout page.

  • Home URL: The URL that redirects users after they click on the Home button. By default, SSPR directs users to the SSPR menu page after completing any activity.

  • Intro URL: The URL that opens when the user tries to launch the SSPR. You can add any module starting with a slash (/), such as /public, /private, /public/forgottenpassword, and so on.

For example, if an administrator sets /public in the Add Value field, the SSPR user page displays all the public modules that are accessible by any user while launching the SSPR application.

  • Idle Timeout Seconds: The number of seconds after which SSPR deactivates an authenticated session. By default, the value is set to 300 seconds.

NOTE:The minimum value can be set to 60 seconds.

  • Hide Configuration Health Warnings: Hides the health warnings about configuration issues from the Health status monitoring on the Configuration Manager page.

  • HTTP Proxy: The URL of the HTTP proxy server that acts as an intermediary between a client and a server. An HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) proxy server is a type of proxy server that handles HTTP requests and provides an important role in managing and securing SSPR access. If the value is blank, the system uses no proxy server.

  • HTTP Proxy Exceptions: The URL’s that are excluded from going through the configured HTTP proxy server. It provides a flexible and customizable way to manage SSPR access through an HTTP proxy server, enabling network administrators to balance the need for security, privacy, and accessibility to the resources that are critical for their organization.

  • App Property Overrides: An override application property is a setting that allows you to change the value of a property in your application's configuration file. Overriding a property value can be useful in certain situations, such as when a default property value is not suitable for your specific use case, or when you need to temporarily change a property value for testing or troubleshooting purposes.

  • Character Set for decoding inbound data: Specify the default character set for decoding inbound parameters. The acceptable values for the default character set can be found in the Java Standard Charset documentation.
