8.5 Using Templates

Templates are like functions that you can access from any test. You can use templates to do common tasks such as cleanup before a test, or create common test users.

Call a template using the Generic Connector > Run Template action.

To enable a template to be generic, use variables to reference specific things such as object names or attribute names and values. Set these variables at the top of each test before calling the template.

You can call a template within a template if required.

Templates also have Setup or Test, or Cleanup sections. These get executed in order, so it does not matter which section you place your actions into.

IMPORTANT:When exporting a test that uses a template, it will not automatically export the template. You must select template tests manually in order to export them with the other selected tests.
