7.12 Web Service Listener Connector

This Web Service Listener Connector provides a listener to allow an external client to connect to it and POST/PUT information which is later retrieved by a GET. The only configuration for the connector is a port number. Actions are provided to start and stop the listener, as well as configure extended endpoint properties.

Once the listener starts any POST or PUT to any endpoint creates a GET endpoint with the same URL in the listener. This GET endpoint returns the data that was provided in the POST or PUT. In this manner, you can validate the data posted to the listener. Use the HTTP Connector to perform the GET and validate the data.

For example:

An external client does a POST on http://server:port/myendpoint with a JSON payload. The listener then creates a GET endpoint of /myendpoint and will return the same JSON payload provided by the POST. Use the HTTP connector to perform the GET on http://localhost:port/myendpoint and validate the data.

Using the Configuration action, you can set additional endpoint properties such as return data for subsequent POST/PUT or GET requests, Basic Auth, content type of the return data, and return codes. This additional configuration is optional. Hover over any label in this action for assistance.

If the client performs a DELETE on an endpoint, that endpoint is removed.

Once the listener stops, all endpoints are removed.
