Before you begin, NetIQ recommends that you review the following prerequisites:
Ensure that Designer 4.8.7 is installed in your system.
For more information about installing Designer, see Installing Designer in the NetIQ Identity Manager Setup Guide for Linuxor Installing Designer in the NetIQ Identity Manager Setup Guide for Windows. If you are upgrading Designer, see Updating Designer in the NetIQ Identity Manager 4.8.7: Installation and Upgrade Guide
Ensure that Java 1.8 (latest update) is installed in your system. The Java command must be accessible from the console where the startup scripts are executed.
The IDM_PackageDeploymentTool_1.0.0.zip contains the PDT.keystore (path - \IDM_PackageDeploymentTool_1.0.0\keystore\pdt.keystore) file with a default SSL certificate. The user should create a new SSL certificate and add that certificate to the keystore. An alternative is that the user can import an already available certificate to the keystore. Make sure that you do not overwrite the existing entries (for example, ism.config.encrypt.0) in the pdt.keystore file.
Perform the following steps to install the Identity Package Deployment Tool 1.0:
Download the IDM_PackageDeploymentTool_1.0.0.zip from the Software License and Download portal and extract it in your system.
Navigate to the IDM_PackageDeploymentTool_1.0.0 folder in the extracted location.

NetIQ Corporation strives to ensure our products provide quality solutions for your enterprise software needs. The following issues are currently being researched. If you need further assistance with any issue, please contact Technical Support.
Issue: When you try to start the driver after successfully deploying it with the Package Deployment Tool, the following error message is displayed:
Code(-9131) Error in vnd.nds.stream://<TREE>/system/driverset1/eDirectory+Driver/NOVLEDIRMSYS-itp-InitManagedSystemInfo#XmlData:89 : Error evaluating XPATH expression 'token-xpath("es:guid2string($driver//attr[@attr-name='GUID']/value/text())")' : com.novell.xml.xpath.XPathEvaluationException: function 'es:guid2string' not found
This issue specifically affects the following drivers:
eDirectory - Novell eDirectory (NOVLEDIRBASE)
Multi Domain AD
SOAP Server - SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) Server
This issue does not impact the functionality of the above drivers.
(Bug 648057, 651006, and 654098)
Workaround: Make sure to import the ECMAScript into the driver properties using Identity Console.
Log in to the Identity Console.
In the IDENTITY MANAGER module, click IDM Administration and select the required driver.
Click Data Transformation and Synchronization > Ecma Scripts.
To import, click
and select the required ECMAScript from a list of ECMAScript resource files.
Issue: When you add a driver to the driver set, the check box under Select Mandatory Features for the parent package is automatically selected, but not for the sub-packages. This issue is specific to the SOAP Server - SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) Server and JMS Queue - JMS (Java Messaging Service) Queue drivers. (Bug 654094)
Workaround: You will have to select the sub-packages manually.
Issue: When importing drivers from the Identity Vault, you can choose the required drivers under Tree > system > driverset<id> in the DN Lookup Browser window. If you choose packages and objects such as Tree, Security, data, and system without selecting a driver and then submit, the application displays no error message. The import driver operation, however, will fail. (Bug 672022)
To successfully import drivers into your staging environment, you must only select the required drivers from the driver set.
Issue: The following error is displayed when importing a driver from Identity Vault into Package Deployment Tool: Designer: An error has occurred. See the log file <.log_file_location>.
This occurs because the temporary log file created in the Designer workspace is not deleted after the driver import operation is finished. (Bug 717002)
Workaround: To resolve the error, you must manually delete the Designer workspace folder in your system.
