5.5 Unable to Generate Reports due to Timeout Error while Using MS SQL Database

While generating reports in OpenText Identity Manger, the attempt to run reports fail with the following error: “Cannot get a connection, pool error Timeout waiting for idle object, borrowMaxWaitDuration=PT30S.”

To generate the reports, you must configure the settings in MS SQL and server.xml, and perform the following steps on your database:

  1. Log in to the server where Identity Reporting is installed.

  2. Open a database administrator tool such as SQL Server Management Studio.

  3. Right click on the server and select Connections.

  4. Increase the value of Remote query timeout. For example to, 150000.

Perform the following steps to edit the server.xml file.

  1. Navigate to /opt/netiq/idm/apps/tomcat/conf on Linux or C:\Netiq\idm\apps\tomcat\conf on windows, where Reporting is installed.

  2. Increase the value of maxWaitMillis and validationInterval, where the database name is <reporting database name>. For instance, maxWaitMillis=3000000 and validationInterval=12000000.

  3. Restart tomcat services.
